Bottle thanks to nihtila. Appearance - Nose - burning wood and light chilli. A touch of fruit lurking. Taste - smoky and chilli which slowly builds through the beer. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy smoky texture and a dry smoky finish. Overall - a fun interesting beer.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours completely clear, bright gold, highly effervescent, and with a foamy white head that quickly settles into a cream. Great aroma, lots of dry smoked malts, hints of cured ham, accents of dried chipotle peppers. Medium sweet flavor with good pale bread backbone, a perfect amount of pepper, dry smoke, hints of ripening orange, candied lemon peel. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Sweet finish with dry peppery spice in the throat, some sugary honey, bready malts, quick smoke impact. Nice lingering honey-cured ham character, along with just enough throat burn. As far as ’novelty’ chili pepper beers go, this is just about as good as it gets.

Bottle at home split with Srah picked up from Cotteridge Wines. Aroma is meaty roach malts, little TCP phenols in there as well, semi-sweet caramel and cranberry. Clear orange / light amber coloured pour with a small halo of off whiite head. Flavour is composed of semi-sweet nutty grains, pinch of caramel , light mineral, gentle warmth of spice in the finish. Rauch character is more subdued in the flavour and is a little flabby and washed out. Palate is light, mineralm semi-sweet with highish carbonation. The spicy and the smoke work well together but i thought it was a little washed out and needed more uumph.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear amber. Thin, white head. Light, smoked malts. Light, savoury smoke. Some fruitiness. A bit vegetal. Taste is soft sweet. Turns light dry. Some chilli heat on the palate. Feels a little thin. Bit of burn at the back of the mouth. Finishes light dry, with a hint of sweet. More of the chilli on the close.

Bottle at home, from Bottledog, 08/01/15. Lightly hazed golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is smoked malt, light campfire, green pepper, spice, chipotle. Taste comprises smoked malt, caramel, light brown sugar, more green pepper and chipotle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet, sour, spiced tones. Decent enough smoked number, the chilli heat doesn’t get out of hand, pretty sweet in places.

Bottle purchased at Good Taste, Crystal Palace. It pours clear gold with a small white head. The nose is rich, smokey, spicy, bacon frazzles and just a touch of sweetness. The taste is bitter-sweet, some chilli heat, spice, earth, smoke, grain, straw and bacon frazzles with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Addition of chipotle balances out the sweetness of the original beer. Sounds crazy, but actually kinda works.

Keg at the Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden. Poured a clear medium amber with a whispy white head. The aroma is smoky bacon. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light chilli spice, light smoke palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m not a fan of smoked beers but this one I liked.
