Christmas Idjit is a version of our potent imperial stout Idjit. Black as the night and dark as sin. Loaded with roasted, and just a hint of smoked malts it is as smooth as it is powerful. A beer you can count on anytime, anywhere.

Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, plenty of coffee, mocha, dark chocolate and liquorice. Flavour is sweet with a nice moderate bitterness. Body is medium to full. Thankfully this does not have a load of spices, it’s simply a very nice and sweet Impie Stout.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from online. Vintage c. 2015/2016, consumed in December 2019. Pours deep brown with a fizzy tan head. Nicely rounded dark malt character, soft oxidation, burnt caramel, moderate ashy roast, earth, raisins. Medium to full bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Sweet finish, with notes of burnt sugar, more charcoal, roast, bittersweet cocoa, dried dark fruits. Sound. Has aged pretty well.

Keg at Craft Islington. Roasty, smoky, chilli. Taste is interesting, bit of vanilla, roast, light spice. Good stuff.

Bottle at home. Six years old. Pours a dark brown to black colour with a beige head. Aroma with lots of chocolate truffles, ash, soy sauce, smoke, coffee and some leather. Roasted flavour with ash and coffee with sweet undertones og chocolate and nougat. Slick and silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Well-roasted balanced with nice chocolate sweetness.

Bottle, bb 2017-05-12. Pours black with a low off-white head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, liquorice, oats, milk. Body is heavy, rather sweet, softly bitter, some lactose. A bit of booze, but mostly chocolate and coffee, some oxidation. Warming chocolate milk palate. Bot overwhelmingly complex or rich, but still a healthy dose of flavours and on point. Good!

Bottle. Clear dark amber with a small beige head. Strong aroma of dark malt and chocolate. Slightly roasted. Flavor is quite sweet dark malt, molasses, roasted coffee, chocolate and balanced mild bitterness. Fine body and nice aftertaste. Nice one.

Pours almost black with a beautiful head. Roasty aroma, lots of dark malts, toasty and nutty, some licorice, raisins, lots of coffee and chocolate, clean. Medium to big body, low carbonation, pleasant, smooth mouthfeel. Flavours are nicely complex and varied, very nutty, christmas spices are there (cinnamon and nutmeg), a lot of coffee, some bittersweet chocolate. Only thing I don't really enjoy is the finish, seems very abrupt and not round enough. Apart from that it's a lovely imperial stout, heavy on coffee and spices, very nicely suited for Christmas.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tannish head. Aromas of dark dry chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malts. Flavors of black almost burnt coffee, licorice, creamy chocolate and dry roasted malts with subtle Christmas spice and somehthng like whiskey notes. Very good.
