Poured up on tap at the Gilbert W.o.B. where it exhibits a nice looking mahogany colored body that supports a tan head that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up some roasted malts, pine hops and a bit of earthy sort of nutty notes. The taste hits first with malts and some malt roastiness before chocolate malts and coffee help usher in some resiny pine hops and spicy black licorice as well as mild earthy tea like notes, nice. Toward the finish the roasted malts come forward. Nice brew with plenty of hops and varied malts to keep it interesting.

Draught. Reddish amber with creamy large beige head, candy aroma, medium carbonation, taste starts slightly sweet but quickly turns into a hoppy one, long finish with caramel aftertaste. Quite interesting sequence of tastes.

Bottle from Lemon Tree, Nov. 2013. First rating I’m typing from an Android pad, so excuse my spelling. Warm alcohol and malt smell under the shows a bit of phenols, so it’s getting a bit old. Brown color, but clear body, per the usual 2Bros style. Taste is full of the usual Crystal malts and a light dose of hops. Like a little brother to a Bigfoot Barley wine. The Imperial red ale just may become one of my new favorite styles. This beer comes across just fine but it does need to be drunk fresh.

bottle - Pours deep red. The aroma is heavy on the citrus accented hops and includes some caramel malt. The flavor features high hops bitterness with good citrus notes and a solid lightly toasted caramel malt backbone. Bitterness lingers pleasantly on the palate. Very good.

Bottle from BottleSelect.com. Pours bright ruddy copper with a slight dark beige head. Aroma is malty with rather earthy hop. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy/resin over rather roasted malt. There’s a slight burn. I’m betting it’s hops. Finishes more resin than earthy. Great stuff.

Bottle shared at kerenmk’s place. Clear deep red-amber with a beige head. Aroma of piney hops, a bit stale, and caramelly malt, slightly cookie-ish. Flavor has sweet chewy malt, caramelly and a bit biscuity and a bitter resinous hoppy finish with a bit of pine and light stale notes. Medium to full-bodied, a bit oily, with some alcohol. A bit too heavy.

Nice slightly hazy copper coloured body with a ruby glow and a bit of a muddy brown note. Aroma of fresh hops, tons of alcohol, an earthy and caramel maltiness, some lemons and a hint of pine. Medium-bodied; Strong alcohol and pine note at first with a lot of earthy malt, toffee, pit fruits and a solid hoppy finish with resin and nuts both showing. Aftertaste is quite complex with sugars, fruits, earthiness, alcohol and a good hop bite all noticeable and quite potent. Overall, a very nice beer with tons of flavours, some good complexity and best of all - a small format bottle. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$3.49 sampled at home in Washington on 25-January-2013.
