This is an easy drinking yet full flavoured golden ale created using a blend of classic and New World hops. A great beer with food or savoured on its own. Its zesty citrus aromas overlay a heart of classic hoppiness. The zesty notes follow through on the palate backed with a light maltiness and the finish is crisp, tangy and refreshing.

We use four hops in Horizon; Fuggles, Styrian Goldings, Cascade and Mosaic. Flaked Barley, Caramalt and Pale Ale malt are also used to create this golden beer.

Bottle as part of the Sainsburys’ bottled beer festival. Golden in colour with a slight white head and a few bubbles. Light, sweet aroma of hay, bready malts and apricot. Flavour had the usual Wadworth pear drop yeast character, sweet malts, and a touch of citrus fruit. Finish was moderately bitter. I wouldn’t rush to drink this again.

21st July 2012 and I’ve just got off the bus from the Cotswold Beer Festival: I’m thirsty, my taste buds are almost back to normal and my bladder is full (again). A half-pint of this hand-pulled cask ale is just what I needed on my return from the toilet: well done wife for ordering it. Englands Glory in Gloucester is a Wadworth owned pub and they look after the beers nicely here: The pale golden beer was clear and bright, the head a proud snowy white colour. The nose (like the bottle version) is citrus/floral and hoppy: as is the taste, this is a fine beer and calmed me down after the extremes of the fest. Easy drinking and unexciting maybe, but it fitted the bill nicely on this occasion.

May 2009: Brown 500ml bottle with two months life left when opened. Poured into a UK pint sleeve glass. Pale amber/light orange body and very clear. The white head sadly fell away very quickly to leave a thin collar around the glass. Floral aroma at first, sweet pea with a citrus fruit aftersmell. Crisp and tangy, with that citrus aftersmell taking over the flavours too. Pleasant and easy drinking beer. A good example of what a true English Pale Ale should taste and feel like.

Bottled (from K CM Kivihaka, Vaasa). Honeyish golden colour with a small fluffy white head. Aroma is grains, fruits, mild earthyness as well as some slight toasted notes. Flavour is crystal malty along with some toasted malts as well. Finishes in a nice creeping fruity and floral tone.

Bottled 500ml (K-Kamppi, BB 12/2011)
Golden color, small steady white head. Typical English flowery-citrusy aroma. Light body. Sweet maltyness in the flavor, soft palate, low bitterness leading to light hoppy bitterness. Lame but clean golden ale.

Golden blond colour. There’s a slightly sweet, citric edge to this beer but otherwise it’s rather bland, thin and watery.
