Bottle at LKS - thanks to Ken. It pours cloudy cloudy dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. The aroma is earthy roast, burnt toast, bergamot, charred pine, orange peel, tangerine, kumquat and jaffa cakes. The taste is dry, bitter, charred wood, burnt pine, cocoa, jaffa cakes, earl grey tea, Terry's Chocolate, cake, light spice and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Decent gear.

Dan's Stag. Hotel room tasting. Very hazy brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and fairly dry, light fine crispness. Tangy thin dark malts. Plenty of Earl Grey peppery floral citrus. Mild spice. Dry finish. Earl Grey linger. Amusing, could do with a more solid dark malt base.

Bottle shared in a Bristol hotel. To honk Danny. Pours deep brown with a slim, creamy khaki head. Certainly some Earl Grey in the nose, faint roast. Light sweet flavour with understated ash, burnt toast, more Earl Grey. Medium bodied with lively, massaging carbonation. Alright balance in the finish, more burnt toast, ashy roast, more tea, orange peel. Interesting. Not bad.

Tap @ Bishops Arms, Lund. Hazy very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt, tea, soapy and light hoppy - citrus. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. The bergamot gives a soapy note, which isn't to my liking. 020917
