Draft. A hazy amber beer with a lazing yellow head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and dusty hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel, over ripe fruits, and a bit of wood, leading to dry alcoholic finish.

Clear, but ever so slightly hazy copper coloured body with a very thin, slightly off-white head and a clear bronzed glow and a nice glassy copper body. Aroma of deep pitted fruits, quite a bit of hop bitterness, some pungent caster sugar sweetness, a lot of floral malts and a big dose of dry, grassy notes at the end - nice and incredibly complex in the nose. Medium-bodied; Very syrupy sweetness of caster sugar, grain, pit fruits, raisins, grapes and a big dose of light and smooth malt and a touch of hop bitterness near the end. Aftertaste shows a remarkably smooth malt and caster sugar sweetness with a touch of fruits, a lot of hops noticeable and a very smooth and easy-to-drink malty character with a bit of grain and dryness, but nicely done. Overall, a great barley wine that is incredibly smooth, but also showing a very nice complexity, hiding the alcohol well and still leaving some nice bitterness from hops. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (P Street, Logan Circle), D.C. on 28-June-2015 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 25-April-2017. This aged very nicely and should perhaps be kept even longer, maybe another three+ years? Bottled: 29-October-2014 // Purchased: 28-June-2015 // Sampled: 25-April-2017

330 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany color with moderate head. Aromas of candi sugar, doughy malts, orange peel and sharp fruity almost herbal hops. Flavors of oranges, sweet toasty malts, toffee, golden raisins and brandy. Great stuff. Could age a bit.

0.33l bottle. It's a quite a bit brighter than I was expecting this one, definitely a shade brighter than the most regular English barley wines I've had. Cloudy and copperish in color with a nice lasting little off-white head that's lacing nicely. On the nose I get a nice but unexpected citrus sourness. This blended with lots of malty and caramelly sweetness. Is it lime zest? Reminds me a tad of a mojhito that's been blended with nutty sweetness. Smells quite good - and different. Oh, it's quite warming. Not too much but still it kicks you. Feels thick and almost a little chewy in the mouth this while it's soft to average on the carbonation. More citrus lime zesty things going on in the taste also. Green strawberries and papaya before it turns more yeasty towards the finish - and after the beer has gained some temperature. Yeah, I like this quite a lot. 05.04.2015

Hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth caramel malts, not that sweet. A little soft malt cream. Marmalade - bitterish. A vague savoury note. Smooth finish. Nice. Remember this being better fresh though.

Draft at Craft. Clear reddish amber. Aroma of pine resin. Taste is bittersweet caramel. Easily the hoppiest barleywine on the planet. Like a DIPA.

Bottle shared in W2 - big thanks to Daniel! Pours unclear, glowing gold with a frothy, off-white head. Ripening berries in the nose, some gummy berries, white grape, bread. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with rich, rounded ripe berry character, some more gummy grapes, berries, golden raisins, light piney bitterness, pale bread. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carboantion. Warming finish with lots more ripe fruits, orange, berries, melon, tangerine, gummies. Quite robust, but also nicely rounded and drinkable.
