Bottle shared in W2 - big thanks to Daniel! Pours unclear, glowing gold with a frothy, off-white head. Ripening berries in the nose, some gummy berries, white grape, bread. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with rich, rounded ripe berry character, some more gummy grapes, berries, golden raisins, light piney bitterness, pale bread. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carboantion. Warming finish with lots more ripe fruits, orange, berries, melon, tangerine, gummies. Quite robust, but also nicely rounded and drinkable.

12oz bottle from Superstar Beverage pours a mostly clear amber with some clingy white head. Nose has malt, orange, pine, plenty of port, booze, some candle wax, some baking spice. Flavor is a bit simple, sweet, boozy and bitter, mild spice, pine, port. Full bodied finish.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to red color with no head and a slim light coat of lacing along the sides.
The smell takes in the normal qualities of an English barleywine such as tobacco, vanilla, and subtle sweet fruits (ie apple, cherries, and plums). Light toast slides in for the balance.
The taste is mostly sweet with the tobacco trying to make an effort to dry it out. Subtle sweet fruity semi-dry aftertaste and it doesn’t have a finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. I don’t mind for me, that it’s a bit lighter than expected in body. Carbonation definitely has died off.
Overall, for a bottle from 29/10/14 and at 10.3%, I’d say this was good for the most part given that it’s a single malt and single hop barleywine. Expectations were met.

Cloudy copper, offwhite froth. Aroma has hops, caramel and alcohol, light malt with fruity notes, perhaps marzipan. Boozy, malty flavour with hoppy bitterness, marzipan and caramel. Alcoholic, slightly sticky, and slightly harsh finish. Rough in a nice way. Ok I guess.
