Bottle shared at the De Molen monthly tasting. Pours clear amber with a small cream head. Aroma of cheesy malt, caramel, toffee, overripe dark fruits, raisins and dough. Flavour is light heavy sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Bottled 10/29/2014, best before 10/29/2024. Hazy brownish orange with 1.5 fingers of off-white head. Aromas of caramel, malt, some biscuit. Tastes of caramel, toffee, malt, honey, a bit of dark fruit, big bitter floral notes towards the end. Medium body with a dry and slightly warm finish. Not a big fan of the big bitter floral/hoppy notes, may be a good barley wine to age a year or two.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy amber color. The aroma reminds me of some grocery shop in the Alps selling cured ham and cleaning products; that comes from sweaty hops (a lot of sweat) and some chemical compound; weird. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is too oily, and too boozy; quite sweet but not syrupy; pale malt base, not the best choice for this beer (mind, I like this choice for DIPAs, for example), some vegetables, strong bitterness but without clean hop quality.
Weird.

Bottle from de Molen beershop, bottled 29/10/14 BB 29/10/24 (so drinking it rather ’fresh’), large sample. Clear orange to amber color, short frothy head. Aroma of those minty chocolate candy mice you get with Xmas/Sinterklaas. Mint, chocolate, orange marmelade, toffee, strawberry fruitiness. Slight sweet in taste, again the fruitiness and the memory of minty chocolate. Seeing the color and being a single malt, its probably a vienna like malt. And single hop, I would guess sorachi ace, but I never brewed with that myself. Quite interesting stuff, I like it!

330mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out a big piney hop component, along with caramel malts and apple juice. Flavour is on the sweeter side, with caramel malts, candied apples, stone fruits, and some piney hops to balance. It's sort of balanced, but pretty messy and incohesive. Pleasant, but a little rough. Good stuff in small quantities.
