33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Brown colour, beige head. Aroma of campfire smoke, sweet brown malts, some herbal hops, light fruity, caramel. Flavour is quite sweet, malty, smoke, campfire, caramel, light fruity, bitter finish. Medium bodied, sticky. A bit one dimensional, but nice.

Sampled draft @ β€œKaapse Brouwers 1st Anniversary Beer Festival”. Dark amber, big tanned head. Nose is big smoke, very thick meaty Bamberg smoke, sweet spices, big leather, light malt, spice & sugar sweetness but the smoked Bamberg-style malts dominate totally. Taste is hugely malt, same malts everywhere but with a light bitterness, sugar, necessary sweetness to compliment this kind of beers, sugar, sweet spices, big leathery smoke,… Thick malt body,… Basic but very satisfactory. A nice one, sometimes De Molen shows that they can still do it.

Bottle from de Molen beershop, dated 26-02-2015 BB 26-02-2017, large sample. Hazy copper color, short frothy head quickly diminishing into a bit of off-white lacing. Aroma is a lot of smoke, sausage, bacon, slight wood, campfire. Slight dry and smokey in taste, bit sweet, soft earthy bitterness. Slight alcoholic in the finish. A bit more sweet perhaps than the classic Bamberg style rauchbiers, but it gets very close. Love this stuff.

On tap. Dark amber color with small beige head. Smokey-malty aroma. Taste is lightly fruity, malty, not much of the smoke left. A solid Rauchbock, as you?d say. Not bad. 7-3-6-3-12 Bottle, bottled 26/02/2015, enjoyed 19/01/2016. Good bacon smokeyness, also some hops and barley-wine-like sweet malts in the back, Maggikraut. Taste also has a slight hoppy fruitiness. Good! Either I’ve grown to like smoked beers much more over the past year or this one is better than the tap was. uprated to 7-3-8-4-15.
