A. Le Coq Porter has a strong taste and a rich aroma. It is a typical Baltic porter with the dominant flavour of roasted malt, but hints of black bread and caramel can also be felt. They are complemented by the nuance of dried fruit and dark chocolate in the end.

Brown, standard 0.5 litre bottle, bought for 3 Euro’s at a trade fair in Berlin (Green Week 2007), best before 2nd Sept 2007, drank 29th Jan 2007, so plenty of life left. Looks a dark, deep mahongany red, with a little brown head which strinks very fast. Chocolate malts, but no great nose to it, even as the beer warms. Not a rich porter type taste at all, very ordinary in my opinion. Watery for a Porter, no hint of the 6.5% claimed on the bottle, the maltyness does stay for a while, with coffee coming through, but still weak for me. If I could get my money back I would, not impressed at all.

50 cl bottle @ Nurmo, BBE 28.07.2012
Aroma is rather light with some roasted malt, hints of grain and butter. Flavour is roasted with some coffee, metal and chocolate. Feels a bit like dunkel or schwartzbier. Dry finish. Nice, but should have more character and less metal.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark brown with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, nuts, honey. Taste malt, milk chocolate, caramel. Thin body, soft carbonation. Not bad, but not to exiting either. 230112

Very dark. Bitter and caramely aromas. Light sweetness and medium bitterness. Well balanced and a generally good porter.

bottle, donated by FatPhil - thanks! Clear, chestnut brown colour, not as dark as expected. Rather light-bodied, malty, caramel, shy hoppy finish. More like a light, mild Dunkel.

50cl bottle @ m/s Silja Line. Poured dark brown, white thin head. Sweet aroma with some roasted malt. Flavor is sweet malty, roastedness and metal. Slightly bittersweet finish. Not really a porter I would try again.
