Odin's Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odin's Tipple is now approx 11% abv, it’s a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

From a 500ml bottle on 1/7/2012 (shared with Butz - thanks). Pours close to black with almost no head. Has quite a strong aroma of chocolate and fermenting dark fruit. In the mouth, it’s quite boozy with flavours of dark chocolate, cherries, plums and prunes. The carbonation is very muted. Has a medium slightly vinous bitterness. It’s a little muted and one dimensional for something so big. While a decent sipper, this is a long way from being a top flight imperial.

Bottle from Vinens Verden. Nice head with medium duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich roast malt, chocolate, wood, dark fruit, notes of alcohol and hops. A little vinous.

Shared a bottle with friends. Poured a near pitch-black color, with a very rich dark brown colored head. Aroma was a bit smoke, with roasted malts. Flavor was smoky, with a touch of chocolate. Smooth notes. This brew was pretty enjoyable.

50 cl bottle @ ISKTR. Rated on 20.03.2011
Sweetish aroma with licorice, some roastiness and hints of coffee. Flavour has licorice, some warming alcohol, ash, coffee and hints of tobacco. I expected more, but decent stuff anyway.

31/10/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Corpo medio- pieno, carbonazione corretta. Gli 11 gradi non si sentono per niente. Ottima imperial stout.

0,5 l. bottle, batch # 376. Poured in to a snifter. Black colour with an average sized, creamy dark brown head, that faded very fast. Aroma is heavy malty with molasses, caramel, chocolate, hops with notes of dark dried fruits, oak and vanilla. A little bit of alcohol. Bitter taste. Full bodied, creamy texture, and a long lasting, bitter finish with bacon, smoke, ashes, oak, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol. Excellent beer.

Bottle at Camp Beer IX. Pours a motor oil with virtually no head. The aroma is roast, smoke, and oak. Medium mouthfeel with smoke and roast with a sweet finish. A good imperial stout from Haand.

Growler. Black, dark brown head that soon retreats to the rim. Aroma of coffee, blackcurrants, treacle, chocolate, soy sauce. Syrupy with low carbonation. Very sweet with treacle and chocolate, dark berries with some sourness, some coffee astringency, soy sauce. Peppery bitterness at the end. Alcohol is quite prominent. Under the sweetness the berries are interesting, but there’s a lot of sweet booze to wade through. Probably like this better in a bottle after a couple of years.

Bottle. Pours black with a nice dark brown head. This beer is smooth and big. Notes of coffee and tobacco. Not as heavy as one would think of a 11%ABV stout.
