This beautiful amber with original flavors is brewed in an artisanal way. It is brewed from a mixture of blond barley from Auvergne with caramel barley. The second fermentation is done with the addition of chestnuts and a touch of gentian. an interesting alliance of flavors that mixes sweetness and bitterness, the whole is well balanced. On the nose, one distinguishes the gentian, the chestnut as for it appears more at the end of the mouth. Here is a pleasant beer to drink, sweet and aromatic.

Slightly unclear medium amber, good frothy white to off-white head, good retention, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malt, overripe fruit, nuts, herbal notes, bit soap. Taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, malty, nutty, fruity notes, in the middle part more nuttiness and herbs (but still rather in the background). Light body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, sweetbitter aftertaste, malty notes, some nuts and herbs, the interesting ingredients don't really come through, in that respect a bit dissapointing and gives a feeling of missed opportunities, despite that an acceptable brew.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy light brown colour with a lasting beige head. Malty nutty and a little fungusy aroma. Nutty yeasty malty beer. Soft on the finish. Vague hop. OK if not great.

Bottled 330ml. -Cloudy amber coloured, small off-white head, some odd dry berries in the nose. Malty caramel and odd fruity like taste with pretty metallic finish. Interesting but not so good.

330ml bottle [Thanx Claudius!]. Cloudy amber colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, minimally lacing, white head. Caramel malty aroma with a fruity touch of plums, additionally a herbal note like mint (supposedly the gentian). Taste is initially slightly watery, minimally herbal, later with fuller, minimally fruity malt basis, in the finish herbal again and minimally spicy. Not completely bad, but too light bodied and not overly complex despite the special ingredients.
