By using a load of American hops, this beer has a deliciously sweet citrus aroma. You will also find this in the taste, after which it will disappear bitterly. Caramel accompanies the taste and brings balance, from start to finish.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours a deep reddish brown with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and spicy. Continues to a lusciously creamy, spicy, sweet Imperial Red Ale taste. Bit too much spice and a touch cloying but I still enjoyed it.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber to red with a nice fluffy head. Nose - grain and oatmeal. Strangely cucumber. Taste - a little red fruits and grain again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - it’s very grainy. I don’t get enough biscuits and don’t get barley wine notes either.

330ml bottle from Appellation Wines, thanks to AshtonMcCobb. Pours hazy red-brown with a thin, long-lasting white head. Aromas of wood, yeasty sherbet, cucumber. Taste is fruity, thin and boozy. Over-ripe fruit. Dry finish. Odd.

A dark orange, a head is big and beige. Aroma has wood, tropical fruits, some pine forest, hint of dry chalk. Taste is fruitful, dry wood, quite strong bitterness and the end is long. Medium bodied, medium cabonation. Good bitterness, otherwise too much wood for me.

Bottle from Kent BF, thanks to Menno. Hazy reddish brown russet colour lasting beige head. Quite a fruity beer. It has that strong red ale sweetish malt character. Tastes really fresh which is good. Really enjoyed the sweet strawberry and peach flavours. Malty aroma. Some decent hop sting on the finish. Overall I like red ales and I like strong red ales and this I thought was a really good example.
