This beer has a dark amber color with a reddish tint, and a medium foamy off-white head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of caramel, malt and fruit. Light body with a caramel malt character and notes of wheat, yeast and a hint of spice. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Average overall.

Crisp amber coloured body with a ruby glow and a very very thick tan head that tops the beer nicely. Aroma of malt, toffee, sugars and a touch of yeast - nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive toffee and earthy nuttiness with a good dose of malt, some light yeast flavours and very little else. Aftertaste shows a pale malt characteristic with a little toffee and earth and perhaps some bitter tea and yeast flavours. Overall, not so great, and not even close to any abbey or belgie beer i’ve had - this does not belong in that category, regardless of what they were intending or what the label says. This quite simply is awful and passable only by a mass produced brewery - not good. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 09-November-2011 for US$1.99 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore on 12-November-2011.

From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors. Very very slight aroma of caramel. Appearance is hazel with very slight head that dissipates quickly. Bland taste. Slightly sweet and salty. Deceptively light bodied for how dark it is, thin texture with average carbonation. Very abrupt finish.

Bottle. Dear me oh dear me. Pours rich red brown with lasting foamy head. Faint sweet malty aroma. A sugary sweetness is the only flavour, light bodied and only a little fizz for a finish. But then it’s made by Coors.

OK, blue moon, I saw you standing alone? Well not any more, blue moon makes alot varied brews like this one; a beldgy. Does have that old style yeast feel to it. Quite strong initial impressions yet well controlled. Not sure if its the beldgy sugar er the yeast that gives it that personality. Couldn’t drink abunch of theser but it goes down fairly easy for a five plusser. Decent lacing. Stands right up there with some of those other beldgy wanna bee american imitations. Aroma is clean and rather sterile, but something is there. Finish is a little creamy and medium bitter. One of the stronger moons I’ve had; they must be trying to approach the big beer category, heheh. To put this in the same style category as orval is hilarious.

Bottle. Setting aside its claim on the bottle, and that it doesn’t really hold a candle to any other abbey ale on the planet, this one wasn’t actually that bad. It is more like a brown ale than anything else. Mild spice character. Entirely drinkable, and probably something you could convince absolute non-beer drinkers to partake in. Poured a medium dark amber color, medium fluffy head. Aroma was sweet toffee notes, caramel.

12 oz bottle into Trappist glass. Pours an orangeish copper with a thin head that recedes quickly to a beige ring of foam. Aroma is light toffee, caramel and banana; faintly spicy. Taste is sweet and a bit tart with no bitterness. Tastes somewhat berry-like with a hint of cheese. Carbonation and body are medium, has a creamy mouthfeel. This seems so much better than "Full Moon," the name the brewery gave their winter seasonal up until now. It’s no masterpiece, and compared to authentic Belgian Abbey ales, it’s pretty bland, but it definitely surpasses what they’ve put out every other winter until now.

bottle - Pours clear copper with a small light tan, quickly fading head. It has a very mild aroma with a little caramel. The flavor is rich, toasted caramel malt that carries right through to the finish. It’s bubbly with yeast and sweetness dominating. Decent, but it could be much better.

Bottle. Chocolate toffee malt aroma. Clear chestnut color with small head. Sweet toffee malt flavor with a mildly bitter hay hops finish. Not bad - would drink this again.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a very large tan head. The aroma was sweet, tangy and a bit tart. The flavor was sweetish, tangy and had a hint of caramel but not a whole lot else. The finish was long and tangy. Nothing special.
