Bottle thanks to blutt59. High hopes on this one. Pours with a huge brown head and a black body with good lace. Aroma is strong, with husky and deep, rich peanut butter, dusty, alcohol and chocolate. Taste is infected, sour, acrid coffee and chocolate. Light bubbles. Ruined.

This was the next on the list after the PB&J. Once again thanks to Toby. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a small brown head. Aroma of peanut butter along with some light roast. Taste more of the peanut butter, the roast coffee, and plenty of bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is a very distinct peanut butter along with an alcohol note and chocolate. Flavor is a nice blend of peanut, cocoa, and some dark fruits, along with a touch of vodka. Alcohol character is a little sharp, and while it does little to dampen my enjoyment, it’s enough to settle my debate between a 3.9 and a 4.0. On balance, yet another success from Short’s.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a little head and smokey/peaty aromas. There’s a bit of a bourbon whiff in there, too, and a little bit of peanuts. Flavor has far less peanut butter than I expected... it’s more of a stout with a peat-like finish.

Bottle. Opaque deep brown/black body, thin tan head. Salty nose with dry cocoa and roasted peanuts. The body is prickly and lacks sweetness, being dominated by cocoa, peanuts, and salt, with hints of molasses. Charred, bitter finish. Somewhat astringent and rough, not quite what I was expecting.

Tap. Poured black with a deep brown head. Aroma was full of peanut notes (very peanut butter like) with an undertone of oats and dark malts. Flavor did a good job of balancing the the nuttiness from the peanuts with the dark malts and oats.

Trivia time: ’goober’ is the gullah word for peanut, and has its origins in West African languages. Dark brown with a slight haze. Definite peanut buttery nose - not much else. Very roasty on the palate with light peanut butter that gets stronger as it goes. Roasty, bitter finish. The nuts and stout never really came together for me.
