Ruby dark color, off-white small steady head. Bready hoppy, a bit sweetish aroma. Nutty hoppy, rye-bread hoppy, also a bit sweetish with caramelly notes. Mix of brown ale and IPA.

Bottle. Brown color, tan head on the pour. Aroma is mostly hop, with some of the spice you would expect from a holiday ale. Taste is malt and hop, and pretty full bodied. What surprised me is how brief the finish was on this beer. Pretty big taste, right until the end where the finish was thin and brief.

Bottle Pours a cloudy light ridish brown with a large very fine creamy light tan head. PLenty of smooth heavy lacing. Lots of pitted fruit notes in the aroma. Reminds me of a light barleywine. Flavorsa are woody, molassas, and spices like cinnimon and maybe a little cloves. Fairly strond bitter hops and a dry woody aftertaste. INtersting, robust, a bit heavy and tasty. I still think it reminds me of a light or more drinkable BW

Redish amber brew with a 1" head that’s creamy, tight and off white. Nice malt and yeast in the aroma. Very nice assault to the tongue. Cream and sugar, sweet like a liquid candy bar. Lots of body and a nice long finish. Thanks to csbosox for sending this one!

2003 bottle. Pours a deep red with some dark fiery oranges. Lightly hazy, and unfiltered but not bottle conditioned. Big oatmeal colored head. Smells of alcohol, toasted malt, chinooks and a light yeasty brown bread aroma. Opens up smooth, fluffy and almost creamy. Great carbonation (very little), no thinning whatsoever. At first, when about 45-50 degrees, the flavor is mainly a lightly sweet malt mixed in with some alcohol. But as it warms a beautiful chinook flavor emerges and spices things up. Cherries, almonds, more toasted grains and some sweet molasses. Body is medium and for all of its smooth texture and lack of thinning, it does not exactly pour on the flavor. Very subtle and restrained. Damned good though and I can really appreciate the relatively low alcohol. Great stuff, and many thanks to Jeffin for sendin this to me. 2003 bottle aged one year Much smoother, more mellow and less carbonated. Still, the flavor is not exactly intense or even very full, but the body is good and smooth as I have come to expect and enjoy from boulevard. Lazy bubbles arise, some light yeast notes from the bottle conditioning, chocolate in the distance; but no real purpose, it seems.

Hazy brown color to start with. The taste is spice, im thinking nutmeg with some cinnamon? Alcohol is the lasting flavor. Overall very smooth and little bitter and quite drinkable in small amounts.

Reddish-brown colour, with a muddy complexion. Aroma is earthy, lightly spicy (cinammon). The flavour is earthy, slightly minerally, with hints of molasses and mint. A little bit spritzy in the body. Thanks TTB!

I've been looking forward to this one for awhile. Poured a rich red-brown, full of yeast sediment, and with a light tan ring of foam. Aroma starts off with strong nutty notes; caramel and fruit aromas appear as the beer warms. Rich, full-bodied flavor: very fruity, with brown sugar in the aftertaste, finishing like a Belgian Strong with vinous qualities. Earthy hops are evident, especially on the back of the tongue. A very smooth, solid "winter warmer."

Thanks to Indra for the trade. 2002 Bottle: Pours a rubicund color appropriate for the season, with a medium thick beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is malty and spicy. Medium-bodied with flavors of malt, cinnamon, licorice and some hops. Finish is nicely spiced with a caramel aftertaste. Well done.
