Draft 12 oz pour at Brouwers. One ounce for each year of this place. Happy anniversary to these fine folks. More anniversaries means more good beers! Jet black pour with an island cream head. A malty aroma that was a bit strange for me. Slightly offputting. Flavor is much more pleasant, a ton of oak character, a dusty caramel malt, bold and dry oak finish. One of the more impressionable oak aged beers I’ve had in recent memory. Overall, a nice beer here.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours a near-black with a small tan head. Aroma of oak, brown sugar, and toffee - quite complex on the nose. Flavour brings out smoky whiskey notes, wood, and a little brown sugar. The whiskey is front and centre, but without being too smoky. A whiskey bomb for sure, but done very well. Excellent.

(11/3/08) Bottle sample at a tasting in Pizza Port in Carlsbad (thanks whoever). Dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma of malt, some smoke, wood caramel and chocolatey notes. Sweet caramelly flavor with wood and chocolate. Full-bodied. Good stuff.

A black beer with a red shine under a thin tan head. The aroma is very sweet malty with strong notes of berries and bourbon - and so is the flavor. The mouthfeel is very powerful. Just a bit too much for me.

Bomber shared by Enniskillen; Nose is prunes, peat, molasses, and caramel, hazy very dark brown with a small beige head, flavor slightly tart and bitter with raisins, molasses, and light chocolateyness.

22 oz bottle by way of after4ever. Pour is dark brown with ruby highlights. Thinnish tan head - one inch tall, falls quickly to just a few bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass. Aroma is big, BIG peat maltiness. Some sweet caramel, dark chocolate, smoke, roast - nose is just lush and immense. Wonderful smelling beer. Taste is not as big as the nose, fortunately I suppose, but has all the component parts of the nose - caramel biscuit malt, salty peatiness, dark chocolate and granular earthiness - nice stuff. Palate is big and mouth coating. Smooth, drinkable and absolutely no alcohol heat at all. Really nice beer, on this evening it outshone Deviation. Thanks for grabbing this gem for me Tom, always appreciated.

Somewhat murky amber. Heavy caramel nose, with some roast and chocolate. A panoply of aimless dark malts, with too much booze. Muddled yeastiness...one of those experiments you know they just had to try, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth getting excited about.

Courtesy of boboski. YUMMY, thanks man. Pours deep clear amber with light tan head. The aroma has big caramel to roasted maltiness, malt sweetness, hints of peat and vanilla. Thick mouth feel with rich sweet and smooth caramelized malts that are cut by a hint of alcohol and peat. Into the finish there is a nice malt roasty sweetness and hints of caramel given up as a parting gifts.
