The Sunray Wheat is a German style unfiltered wheat beer brewed with a touch of local, Georgia Coast, Tupelo honey from the Savannah Bee Company. It’s inviting banana/sweet clove like aroma gives way to a pleasant, clean finish with a hint of tartness.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet oxidized malt with light grassy hops, past its prime. In mouth, a sweet fruity oxidized malt with light banana, cloves, sad state...

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, pale straw color with a medium off-white head that fades quickly. The aroma is wheat, lemongrass, and coriander. The flavor is sweet and spicy up front, with a fairly long, sour finish. The palate is medium, well carbonated, and thick. Overall, flavorful and strong for a wheat beer.

Cloudy yellow gold, foaming head. Aroma is light, with hints of wheat, honey and banana. Flavor is dry with a tingly graininess with some soft banana at the finish and a soft airy palate, some hints at bubblegum. Not bad, sitting somewhere between an american wheat and a hefeweizen, not for a moment bland or boring. I’d like to see the idea of a german hefeweizen brewed with honey taken a little further, though, could be interesting.

Pours a hazy gold with a nonexistent head. Smells appealing, though, with crisp grass and citrus notes, plus a solid hefe background. Doesn’t start out with a sugary blitz, letting the traditional bananas and cloves do their thing. But the finish is pure Tupelo honey, thick and ultrasweet and overpowering. This beer tries to pull off something cool and complex, yet ends up a sweet, syrupy mess. Feels too slack, meaning the sugary fade sticks around forever. Just too damn sweet for much more examination. (5/8/09)

12 oz. bottle. The bottle said "best if enjoyed by March 2010!! " Ok, I got this one a BIT out of code. Hazy orange color, small white head. Aroma is wheat, honey, fruits and mild yeastyness as well. Flavour is wheat, grass, honey and some slight earthy and grassy notes as well. Also has some banana lurking in the background. I would love to get a fresh bottle of this. Even with it being old, still pretty good.

Hazy golden coloured body with a dense, two centimetre-tall white head. Aroma of wheat, curacao, honey, yeast and a bunch of nice spices. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive allspice, coriander seed, curacao and a bunch of bananas and yeast - very nice. Aftertaste shows a lot of character, but in a good way - no bitterness or harsh tastes at all. Overall, a very nice wheat - perhaps one of the best American’s I’ve had in a while! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 15-June-2010, sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 24-July-2010.

Variety case ($36): Pours a hazy gold color with a quickly dissipating white head. Heavy aromas of wheat, cloves, and bananas all up in the nose. Upon tasting it, it gives of a strong taste of wheat and banana. There is a touch of honey as well from which is derived a certain sweetness. The wheat beer flavors are stronger than in most other wheat ales I have had, making this one stand out at least on the level of intensity.
