Imperial Stout, Dark like abyss, this ale sinks to the bottom of your stomach due to it’s heavy body. Packed with the intensely roasted flavor of barley, this stout has a flavor almost of coffee. This is an Exotic beer made with tapioca and rice.

12 oz. bottle, sent from St. Fun (thanks a lot, Josh), pours jet black with a small beige / tan head. Aroma brings out roasted malt, some sweetness probably from the tapioca, and a little caramel candy. Flavour is quite sweet, with notes of sherry-like liqueur, tapioca, and medium roasted malt. Fairly sweet, though not close to cloying. The 12.5% is very well-concealed, leaving only a warming effect, but no burn. A sweet, very desert like imperial stout that drinks surprisingly easily. Good stuff.

Location: Bottle at Paul’s Blind Imperial Stout tasting, 1/5/13
Aroma: The nose has some roasted malts, a little booze, fruity notes, and some dustiness
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a small tan colored head
Flavor: It tastes a touch old, but still pretty good, with some roasted malts and boozy flavors
Palate: This one has a creamy feel, with chalky and dusty notes, and some mild heat
Overall Impression: Drinking this blind I actually liked it, despite the fact that it felt a bit old to me. It held up pretty well.

Opaque black beer. Good chocolate coloured head. A little oxidisation on the nose. Softish smooth palate. Rich dark malt with some oxidisation that largely disappears with some agitation. Tangy. Big unsweet dark chocolate. Mild coffee. Subtle fruits - some raspberry and cherry. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Great fully flavoured stout.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured black with a wooden brown head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma had dark grain with a strong dark fruit note and a hint of dark chocolate and alcohol. Flavor had dark roasted grains with dark fruit, especially raisin and fig, and a bit of booze coming out in the finish.

Bottled thanks Joey@CigarCity. Very deep brown, close to opaque black dark colour, brown mediumsized head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, chocolate oak and ashes with some roast. Also some dark fruits and plummy sweetness. Flavour is very much the same with a quite oily, but still carbonated palate. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Black body with dark brown head. The aroma has molasses, lots of roast and booze. Rich roasty palate, starchy with a bit of tartness late. Lots of booziness to it. Powerful stuff. A real bruiser, and it takes over the beer. Thanks, SoLan.

Pours deep dark brown with mocha head. The big aroma is full of rich goodness coming from roasty malts, chocolate malts and burnt molasses. The taste begins with red wine like fruitiness and esters mixing along with rich roastiness, velvety dark chocolate and burnt molasses. Nice full flavor that attack the unsuspecting senses. The finish approaches with roastiness and burnt malts.

Courtesy of ibrew2or3. Pours black, brownish head, leaving some nice dark golden lacing on the glass ... always a sign of an excellent stout. Aroma was hoppy with some fruit notes. Taste, ester, coffee with a nice light bitter hop. Leaves a nice tingly mouthfeel with the alcohol that engulfs the palate. At 12.5% this one remains smooth.
