Bottle at home, not sure where from, 12th May 18. Love a black Barley. Pours black as night, aroma is liquorice, molasses, burnt caramel, roasted malts. Taste is sweet and bitter, the benefit of the 85 IBU is felt here, mollases, black treacle, liquorice, wood, barrel, mellow notes, perhaps from the vanilla, really bitter faded hoppy finish that fills the mouth and lingers. Fantastic barrel wine, with Brewdog features and a good age on it.

0.33 l bottle from ’Hopfenrausch’, best before July 2020. Black with a thin, foamy, almost stable, beige head. Intense, sweetish-malty, moderately fruity and slightly boozy aroma of molasses, caramel, raisins, some vanilla and hints of oak. Very sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, caramel, some licorice and a touch of oak, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, rather warming-alcoholic, slightly roasty finish with notes of chocolate and licorice. Full body, oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Complex, intense, very saturating, just a bit hard to drink though. Great sipper nevertheless!

330ml bottle. Pours very dark with a little brown head. Pine, orange, lots of sweet vanilla, plums, lots of smoke and wood, dry bitter finish. All in that order. Waves and waves of different flavours. Divine.
