22oz bottle obtained from some shop in San Diego and consumed on my hotel balcony, 18th March 2014. Taken with the most expensive Pizza (room service) I have ever had in my life! I really enjoyed this, certainly different and unlike most beers I have drank over the years. Deep, dark ruby red with a full head. Sweet aroma of malt molasses and hints of bourbon from the barreling. The taste is again fairly sweet with various malty flavours to the fore throughout the brew. The alcohol compliments the taste rather than overruling it and the body feel is smooth and rich (for a lager based beer). Overall a very nice ’night-cap’ and a fitting end to a great sightseeing/drinking day and evening in San Diego.

Tap at Dexters. Unfiltered deep brown. Sweet bourbon barrel flavor, rich and resinous, but never quite overwhelming. Vanilla, amber, woody caramel tones. Brown sugar, molasses. Big and full bodied, a beast of a beer. Tasty.

Draft @ Meadhall, Cambridge, MA. They used a standard Hebrew pint glass. Nose is bourbon with piles of sweet malts and light oak. The taste reminds me of a barely wine in a lot of ways. Rich flavor with hints of big caramel malts, vanilla, and bourbon with the oak flavor in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium in body with a syrupy, dry texture. Lots of warming alcohol on the way down your throat. Carbonation was average amount. This is a sipper for sure. Rating number 1500 since joining Ratebeer.com on a very memorable night in Cambridge, MA

Looks like a bunrt maroon sort of look. Smells wheaty and malty. Has this brown sugar scent. Lots of malts. Hint of bourbon and lots of chest burn. Hints of vanilla with an oak finish. Very roasty with lots of german wheat / yeast.

Bomber courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours clear amber with a big frothy and bubbly goldenish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and boozy with caramel, biscuits, bourbon, wood, alcohol, vanilla, roasted coconut, oak aged quality rum, fudge, golden syrup and hints of resin, brazil nuts and charred wood. Taste is sweet, malty and rich with caramel, wood, biscuits, bourbon, vanilla fudge, coconut, golden syrup, sweet bread, toffee, warming alcohol and hints of resin and caramel sauce. Mouthfeel is smooth, rich, balanced, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with sweet bread, bourbon, wood, caramel, roasted coconuts, vanilla fudge, lemon zest and toffee. Rich, smooth a tasty! A very pleasant surprise.

Bomber from XL Grindhouse Salinas. Nose is vanilla, oak, bourbon, with hints of banana and cloves. Clear rusty-amber with a medium beige head. Flavor is peppery, cloves, bourbon, vanilla, and light bitterness and banana. Finishes with light bourbon and alcohol warmth. Even better than the regular Blockhead which is the best of the Coney Island brews.
