Bottle @ home shared with DutchDrebus. Slightly hazy yellow / orange color, lacing white head. Smell pepper and a lot of other spices or herbs, not nice. Taste ok, but also spices or herbs come through again. Not really good in my opinion.

Bottle. Pours cloudy gold. White head. Nose/taste of yeast, honey, buttered biscuit, apple core and water taffy. Finishes dry and yeasty with lots of alcohol. Medium body.

Bottle at Kerstbier Festival, Essen, Belgique, 18.12.10 Soft in the mouth, wonderful nose, loads of honey and spice (cumin?) touch boozy at times, lovely beer. Rating is far from great but stood up getting barged by people so best I could do under the circumstances. One of my favourite beers of the weekend. A8 A3 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

13/12/2010 - 33cl bottle @ home

Pretty clear deep orange to light copper red beer, thick stable creamy white head, long lasting, adhesive. Aroma: wax crayons, fruity, sweet malts, a touch of tropical fruits, aromatic hops, hint of yeast, alcohol on warming up. MF: nice carbon, medium body, soft texture. Taste: hop bitters, alcohol, spices. Aftertaste: dry and bitter, sour, chemical. A little like strong spirit drink. Pepper in the back of the throat.

Yellowish, dense & very even head over amber-orange beer with fine pearling. White candi sugar or oxydized honey and a light-sweetish aroma as from a fine liqueur, then a mix of old wood and preserved citrus. And if I didn’t know better, I’d hazard Brettanomyces. Ends on Leidse, hard cheese spiced with cumin. Taste is sweet, alcoholic, and has a background of fine bitterish spicing, that is near exotic: ginseng, carraway, cumin, ginger, but finely balanced. Vinous, liqueurish and excellent. Well-carbonated, slight viscous-oily MF, alcoholwarming, adn at least medium-bodied. One thing: it’s too sweet, too spiced and not enough attenuated to be called a tripel. As a strong Belgian blond ale, it’s a monument. Dirk, this one deserves to become a classic!!
