Tap at Beer Temple, 3rd March 16. Pours black. Aroma is fairly muted, chocolate, coffee. Taste is sweetish, chocolate, can’t pick up the coconut, OK

Bomber. Aroma is bready, chocolate, minerally, raisins, licorice, faint coconut if I search for it. Pours black with red highlights and a long-lasting beige head and some lace. Taste is sweet, but not even close to cloying as I was led to believe. It’s also roasty, tannic, lightly tart; the chocolate is fairly obvious, and the coconut starts out as just a hint, but it builds on the tongue until it’s nearly as obvious. Still, this is not chocolate coconut overkill. They used some restraint here. Not sure if that’s good or bad. It’s a tasty beer, nonetheless.

Bottle: Very dark brown color with a thin beige cap and persistent ring. Great nose, sweet chocolate and toasted malts, coconut too. Velvety mouthfeel, light bittersweet cocoa and more roast. Light coconut taste. Very good.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was sporadic and gleaming around the glass nicely.
The smell had the roasty cocoa bean along with some sweet coconut subtly balancing in underneath. Light coffee.
The taste was moderately sweet with a nice roastiness to it. Coconut comes back to balance nicely. Light sweet to roasty coffee/coconut aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about closer to a medium on the body. A little more beef than expected from Porters, eh, I’m not worried.
Overall, nice Porter for the most part exemplifying all of the qualities of the style and then Caldera taking it and adding the coconut. I’d say its good for what it is. I’d have again.

From a 650ml bottle on 18/12/2015 (another early Xmas from my wonderful spouse). Pours a very dark brown with a biggish head which disappears quite quickly. Has a very pleasant aroma of milk chocolate and vanilla. The flavour features more chocolate and vanilla, with a hint of coffee. The coconut kicks in at the finish - quite noticeable but never overwhelming. Medium bodied with the carbonation a touch prickly. This is a really nice dessert porter.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 30 Aug 2015) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, coconut and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, coconut, vanilla and a finish with a slightly creamy sweetness and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Interesting, tasty and really well balanced. Very nice.

Draft at beertemple. Black pour. Aroma is awesome, with lots of choco, coconut, cream and vla. Taste of rich milk chocolate, coconut, sweet passion fruit, grapefruit, roast and cream. Really awesome, like a choco coconut desert cake.
