Uerige Sticke is only served twice a year: always on the third Tuesday in January and October. This beer is brewed with more malt and hops, and is much richer than Uerige Alt. Sticke with its intense and elegant aroma contains 6% abv.

The unusual name derives from olden days, when the guests would whisper (‘stickum’ being a dialect term for whispering) that the master brewer must have been a little too generous when weighing out the ingredients.

Thanks to the higher alcohol percentage, Uerige Sticke can be stored for much longer than the declared and guaranteed minimum shelf life.

Bottle at a bar in Dusseldorf. Hoppier, thicker than the original. Sort of old school hop varietals and sensibilities. Kind of reminds me of old school NW beer, of at least Dutch beer. Good, but a little stale tasting. Not on the same level as the original. Perhaps this bottle was in bad shape, only two months out from bottling.

Bottle from SB. Dark brown with stable, beige head. Spruce, grass, raw herbs, dark bread, leather, touch of caramel. Superb light grassy bitterness to compliment the subtle sweetness. Rather dry and herbal.

Klar kopparbrun färg. Stadigt skum. Doft av chokladkola och humle. Smaken går i doftens fotspår; rund chokladkolesmak följs av en bra humlebeska. Riktigt god.

330ml Bottle from The Trembling Madness. Pours a deep chestnut colour with a reddish hue and a large thick foamy beige head. Aromas of caramel, toasty brown bread and dark fruits. Taste has lots more toasty burnt brown bread, peppery spice, orange rind, marmalade and nuts with a big earthy hop and burnt bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Nice and unique tasting beer. Very good.
