Got in a BIF from MacMalt. 500 ml bottle into snifter, Winter 2017-2018 release. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, and date; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Increasing booze intensity as it warms, a bit overwhelming. Nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and spicy alcohol on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, nuttiness, toasted dark bread, licorice, dark fruit, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness and spicy alcohol. Light carbonation and full body; with a very creamy/silky/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Light-moderate increasing warmth of 11.2%, with a bit of booze after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Russian imperial stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy flavors; pretty smooth to sip on slowly for the big ABV. I liked it more as I moved through the glass. Not nearly as bitter as I expected for the style; but it has a very wide array of complexity from malts and English yeast. A very enjoyable offering, but could definitely use a couple years of age. Quite hot on the fusels.

Draught @ The Jeffrey. Inky black with large foamy beige head, coffee aroma, low carbonation, sweetish mocha taste with alcohol undertones, smooth body, long bitter mocha finish with little alcohol aftertaste. Very smooth ad generally well covered alcohol content.

Medium sweet flavour with more chocolate character, ash, baking cocoa, dried berries, bittersweet coffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation.
