The dubbel in this young but old-fashioned series of Stokhove beers, bottle from the Prik & Tik in Zele. Pale yellowish beige, medium thick, mousy but opening head, hazy caramel brown beer with ruddy-reddish hue, cloudy with sediment. Aroma of freshly baked cookies, hazelnut, 'broodpudding', caramel candy, raisin, candied fig, banana, damp earth (even a very vague hint of manure), straw, honey, dried redcurrant berries. Sweet onset, blue plum, fig and banana, minerally carb with a prickly effect, supple caramelly malt sweet body with a thin metallic side to it, toasty malt bitterishness towards the finish with a herbal, softly bittering hop accent; some light yeasty breadiness (especially after adding the sediment) adorns the tail, with that metallic touch lingering a bit. Sweet and malty dubbel, decent enough and frankly even a tad better than expected based on my experience with their other beers, but that metallic note should have been avoided.

Pours hazy dark brown with a quickly thinning, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, brown sugar, nuts, dough, spices & herbs, some chocolate. It tastes medium sweet (caramel & dough) and light to medium hoppy/spicy bitter on a constant nutty/malty base; bit metallic, hoppy and herbal in the rather astringent finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy to soft carbonation. It could have been better!

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle at Best Western Woerden. Hazy, dark brown with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and a little yeasty aroma of milk chocolate, caramel and some coffee. Rather sweet, malty, a vit roasty and slightly yeasty taste of caramel, chocolate, some coffee and hints of clove, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly yeasty finish. Medium body, moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay.

Bottle shared @ hotelroom tasting after Borefts Beer Festival Day 1. Gusher! Murky red-brown color, small off-white head remaining after the gushing. Head is gone in a second. Smell and taste malts, a bit sweetish, some caramel, forest fruits. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm a bit weird but ok overall.
