Deep, rich and delicious. This robust porter has a base of Chocolate and Brown malts for a stunningly deep rich color with ruby highlights. The slight bitterness from American chocolate is balanced with the sweet notes of organic coconut we toast onsite at the brewery. It was even awarded the Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal in 2012.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, relatively fast-dying tan head that starts at a centimetre tall but fades quickly to just about nothing. Aroma of coffee, light coconuts and sugars (molasses, even) with a big hit of roasted malt and some grain in the mix. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasted and roasted malt flavours with a little bit of milk (perhaps up to 50% cacao) chocolate and a good dose of coffee notes right behind along with a very noticeable amount of coconut (toasted?) right behind and a touch of lactose at the end. Aftertaste shows quite a bit of bitterness from the malts with a little coconut and coffee flavouring, but the coffee and roasted notes are by far the strongest. Overall, a decent and powerful beer throughout, but somehow doesn't show much alcohol (which is a good thing), and the body is a touch thin (which is why i'm happy to see this categorised as a Porter). Nice to sample and a good option if you are looking for a coconut based dark beer or a porter in general and can find this! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can purchased from GrapeVine in Fort Mill, South Carolina on 21-August-2017 for US$2,98 a few hours after watching the Eclipse in South Carolina, but a few hours BEFORE leaving back for North Carolina & South Carolina on 24-May-2018 at home in Washington.

On tap at GABF. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is cocoa and roast. Medium body, strong coconut, dark chocolate, light bitter roast finish, very good.

Pretty good for a flavored Porter, especially in that the flavors are muted and the essential Porter character dominates.

Pour is a black with a huge tan head. Aroma is a really nice roasted malt with a intense dark chocolate. Flavor is more chocolate and a thick and chewy mouthfeel. More chocolate is left on the tongue as this goes down. I did not get any coconut which was dissapointing. But even with no coconut showing up this is a fine chocolate flavored porter.

Thank you tderoeck! Good amount of 473 ml. can if I am correct sampled @ Bierfestival Brugge 2016. Black mocha with little tanned head. Nose is sweetish powdery mocha, artificial chocolate, sugar, cheap artificial mocha, instant chocolate milk, cacao powder. Taste is big cheap artificial chocolate & mocha, with zero coconut, cheap chocolate spread, mocha, caramel, artificial. Body is artificial chocolate. Overly artificial chocolate spread taste instead of real cacao but fun & enjoyable to drink all the same. I am getting absolutely zero coconut here which is unfortunate.

Clear dark brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, caramel, some vanilla, lots of milk chocolate, bit sweet. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, caramel, lots of chocolate, mocha, very lovely! Aftertaste: soft bitterness, lots of chocolate, hint of coconut, really nice beer, this one!
