2nd October 2015
Craft Clapham. Keg. Route 66 event with most of the London crew. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate with a pleasant amount of modest carbonation set up to deliver the wonderful flavours. Lovely coconut and dark chocolate. Creamy sweetness. Bourbon soaked dark fruits. Smooth vanilla. Sumptuous chocolate finish. One of those beers that grabs you on the first sip and leads to spontaneous air punching. There is nothing here that is not in hundreds of other BA Porters and Stouts but everything here is pretty much spot on, all flavours are singing together, on tune and in beautiful harmony. A belter of a beer. We even bought some more just for kicks later on.

Tap. Craft Beer Co, Clapham. 2nd October. Nearly black. Dense halo of tan. Toasted coconut. Marshmallow. Chocolate fudge. Not unlike the mushroom shaped coconut covered chocolates you’d see donks ago. Notes of tar, wood, and charred wood. Taste is dry, roasty bitter. Nowhere as sweet as the aroma might suggest. Lots of chew and depth. Very smooth, easy drinking. Finishes chocolatey, roasty bitter. Cocoa kind of dryness on the close. Big and rich, but never overly sweet.

Keg at Craft Beer Co. Clapham - London, during Route CBC. Pours deep black with a creamy, tan head. Rich chocolate aroma, with prominent coconut elements, some vanilla, scorched earth. Big sweet flavor, with lots of oily coconut, chocolate, moderate bittersweet baking cocoa, some earthy bitterness, light caramel. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more gooey chocolate, coconut, low bitterness. Rich and lovely. Well balanced and nicely layered. Outstanding.

Tap at Route CBC. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, decadent, vanilla, big toasted coconut aroma, fudge, rocky road, chocolate cake, bourbon, maple syrup & pancakes and coffee. The taste is slick, rich, dark chocolate, lots & lots of coconut, bounty bar, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, rocky road, chewy malt and wood with a slick finish. Full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. It is all about the coconut (which I love). Spectacular stuff and one of the best imperial stout/porters I have ever had.
