Thornbridge Imperial Raspberry Stout. We all know that drinking beer is a congenital pastime and brewing beer can be just as fraternal. This collaboration between Rob Lovatt of Thornbridge and Jessica Heidrich St. Eriks is testament to the friendship and inspiration that brewing can produce.

This Imperial Raspberry Stout pours rich and dark with aromas and tastes of liquorice and chocolate, complimented by the generous infusion of prime Scottish raspberries.

Bottle from the brewery. Clear, very dark red. Tan coloured, thin, lasting head. Aroma is firstly, licorice and bonfire toffee. Big, ripe, earthy, autumnal raspberry coming up right behind. Dark chocolate raspberry truffle, too, but with no hint of sweetness. Verging on sour. Taste is a raspberry, sour, dryness. Solid body that feels nowhere near 10%. Long, tart, dry, juicy finish. Enjoyed this a lot.

Keg at the Rake - London. Pours deep brown with a fine, creamy tan head. The aroma gives off lightly tangy raspberries, mild roat and cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with lots of tangy, semi-ripe raspberries, some bitter seeds, restrained chocolate. Light to medium in body with fine, massaging carbonation. Further tangy raspberry character to finish, a bit of bittersweet cocoa, soft roast. Very little indication of the strength, which makes tge beer quite drinkable. Very nice.

Keg at the Rake. It pours darkest brown with a long lasting tan head. The nose is fresh raspberry, ice-cream, milk chocolate, soft roast and toast. The taste is tangy raspberry, mild acidity, fresh fruitiness and yoghurt then smooth roast, toast, some bitterness and charred wood with a dry finish. Med-full body and fine carbonation. Hides abv dangerously well. Very fruity indeed. Tasty and very drinkable. Nice work!
