Bottle at the Montreal tasting, 3/6/05. Sharp, dry, astringent yeast nuttiness meets white mushrooms. I’d like to write more about the aroma, but there wasn’t much more to write about. Some grassy, almost earthy bitterness? Certainly no malt. Fairly clear, amber-auburn body, with light copper tinges and a moderate amount of lightly fizzy off-white head. Flavor is dry and severely astringent, with notes of chalk, tin, rust and a strange, lightly sour, regurgitated toffee flavor (sweet bile). Body is a pretty standard medium, with no thinning or wateriness, but after tasting the flavor, it’s a moot point. The carbonation is too rough and disruptive, as well. This stuff will make many drains very happy! (or sad, if your sink has a demanding palate). It’s sad, but this beer would have fit in well at the swill tasting the night before. Oh well, I guess even Belgium has its swill.

Good foamy head. Colour is amber. Aroma is malt, leather and old books - stinky despite of best before datum in 10/04. Malt bitter mouthfeel giving nice malty aftertaste. Propably needs to be re-rated from draught sample.
