Our Golden State Ale aged in chardonnay barrels. We selected 2006 American oak to condition a batch of Golden State that had finished over its ABV targets. This produced a beer of uncommon depth, with rounded caramel and malt notes and subtle barrel vanillins.

Bottled at SBWF. Funky oaky nose with light citrus. Dryish with medium body and clean, spritzy mouthfeel. Gooseberry, brett and vanilla. Low bitterness. Interesting!

[10/12/13] Draught at Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Deep golden. Oaky and fruity aroma, a bit funky. Sweetish-sourish flavor, fruity and oaky, with a slightly bitter finish. Very nice.

On tap at Beer Temple, courtesy of DSG, cheers buddy! Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, grapes, vanilla, light sourness, citrus. Flavour is a bit more sour, grapes, oak/bourbon, light malty, lemon, tart-bitter finish with some bourbon. Light to medium-bodied. Tasty stuff.

Draught @ Beer Temple. Lightly hazy yellow color, small to medium sized dense white head. Aroma reminds me of green apples and wood. Taste lightly malts, green apple, lightly sour, some wood, grapes and grapepeel sour-bitter. Quite refreshing.

Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Keg. Lightly hazy gold beer with a pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and a little dry. Fresh minerally carbonation provides light crispness. Slight sour vibe here. Lightly tangy marmalade with a touch of lemon. Light floralness. All tangy to mildly sour. Balanced by a nice clean vanilla oak. Finishes semi dry with a vanilla linger. Unusual and pretty tasty. Good stuff.
