Smooth peanut butter meets dark coffee in this roasty porter. This Peanut Butter Victory at Sea is a nutty version of our popular imperial porter. We took our trademark robust porter brewed with Caffè Calabria coffee and vanilla and added peanut butter, adding another level to this roasty, flavorful beer.

Draft at The Grog, Newburyport, MA. Pitch black with thin lasting white head. Aroma is vanilla bean, light chocolate, and ash.
Flavor has an abundance of vanilla. So much that it nearly drowns out the chocolate and chalky peanut butter. Yes, the texture is light chalky with a very mellow peanut butter essence in the finish. Very mild roast. The ABV is hidden nicely and was surprised at the 10%.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a cloudy copper with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast, peanut butter, chocolate. Medium mouth, strong roast bitterness that dominates the peanut butter, bitter finish, good.

Poured up on tap at the Tempe WoB where it exhibits a deep dark brown sort of mahogany colored body that supports a mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted coffee, some thin highly roasted malt notes, a bit of malt sweetness and then a sliver of peanut butter well off in the background. The taste is similar where the base beer is only slightly modified by the peanut butter treatment and it’s working mighty fine too. I get dark roasted coffee sweetened up a bit by molasses and malts and then chocolate malts, a quick burnt malts sensation and then thin subtle peanut butter. Solid beer where a bigger peanut butter presence would be fun to try.

Draft - Lots of dark roast and some peanuts there in the background. Jet brown with a nice light brown head. Tons of bitter dark roast and some coffee notes. Peanuts come in near the end and are subtle. I like this as it isn’t peanut forward but a nice side kick.
