500ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate and espresso. Taste is roasty dark malty, coffee and espresso notes, hints of chocolate, coffee bitterness. Simple, clean and focused - good!

Hand-pulled pint in Kay’s Bar, Edinburgh on 26th Oct 2014. Black body, tanned head. The aroma was caramel and chocolate with dark fruits, the taste was also leaning towards caramel maltiness again with chocolate, coffee and dark fruits, some liquorice and vanilla in there too. Decent.

Cask @ the brewpub. Very dark, aroma is roast, rich dark sugars like intense muscovado and okinawan black, and maybe a little bit of fruit. Light body is slightly oily, with molassesy character and a bit of barrel char. Complex, flavoursome porter that surely ranks as one of the best in Britain.

On tap at the Malt Shovel Appearance - opaque black with a nice crema head. Perhaps a chink of red in the corner. Nose - coffee and cream. Taste - big coffee and cream again. Also dark chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish. Overall - yep a well executed stout.
