Sample @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a creamy brownish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and tiny our with roasted malts, coffee, peat, orange zest, pine and bergamot. Taste is tiny sweet and bitter with dark bread, pine, orange zest, caraway, sheet metal, coffee, ash, wood and lemon peal. Mouthfeel is dry and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with bread, coffee and pine.

Cask at King William IV, London during Bunny Basher 3. Pours clear brown with a tight tan head. Great looks. Mild roast and pine in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, roasty, with pine, toast, resinous grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Bitter finish with toasty grass and earth, mild roast, dirt, pine and grapefruit rind. Very OK.

Cask at Brodies. It pours very dark brown, with a foamy white head. The nose is leaf, raw hop, pine, resin, manure, toffee and spice. The taste is pine, resin, roasted malt, leaf, raw hop, leather, coffee, touch of dark fruit, tar and charcoal, with a bitter/dry-roasted finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Good stuff all-round.

At the Brewpub. Clear dark red-brown beer. Little bubbly tan head. Smooth palate with a little fine carbonation. Medium malt with a little chocolate and coffee supports good piney hops. Nice juicy red fruits underneath. Mild bitterness in the finish. Really well joined up tasty beer.
