Our Hawaiian Lion combines bold flavors from the finest ingredients in a majestic way. It starts with a proprietary blend of local Java Dog Coffee, roasted the moment before going into the brew to maintain the fresh flavor released from the beans. This custom coffee blend is then paired with over 150 pounds of fresh coconut to create a roaring aroma with a rich and smooth flavor.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head that fades pretty quickly and doesn't leave much of anything on top after just a few seconds. Aroma of toasted coconuts, light coffee, a lot of earthiness and rustic nutty qualities with some grainy malts coming through as well, on the toasted side, but the roasty qualities are less defined, which is a nice thing, to me, at least. Medium-bodied; Assertive coffee and bitterness from the nuts and the toasted grain with a dash of spice here as well, but the toasted coconut really comes out at the end and provides a nice cover to all the other flavours and some moderate sweetness here. Aftertaste is very rich from the coffee and the coconuts, but the grain, malt and roasted nuts bring out a lot of complexity here, especially at the end. Overall, a nice and rich beer that shows a lot of character and flavours, without a ton of malts, no cloying sugars, and the alcohol as well is very easy-going, making this a nice beer for the Winter season for sure, and worth trying to find, even if you are in Florida where it never seems to get chilly. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in Estero (Bonita Springs, #074), Florida on 02-May-2022 for US$2,79 sampled in my house here in Washington on 06-February-2023.

Draft pour pint at Boulevard Burgers, St. Pete Beach. It is SO good to be back to my home away from home. Dark cola brown appearance. Thin fading head. Rich milk chocolate and sweet candy bar coconut flavor, but I refuse to refer to this as a dessert. It's bold enough, and the near imperial status balances it. Smooth chocolate malt finish. Toasty late palate. Delicious use of the coconut. Really enjoyed this.

On tap at the Destin Beach Liquors. Pours black, with a pretty thick, dense, beige head. The aroma is bitter chocolate, coconut, peaches, pine, and walnuts. Sweet and fruity, with a woody bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a sharp, acidic, and slick mouthfeel. This is a big and candy-like stout. Nice.
