Brekle’s Brown has a coppery brown color and unusual depth of flavor with hints of citrus which makes for richness and complexity without heaviness. The classic, all-malt, single-hop American brown ale.

Trivia: in 1871 brewer Gottlieb Brekle arrived in San Francisco from Germany. He purchased an old beer-and-billiards saloon near Russian Hill and transformed it into the little craft brewery that — twenty-five years later — would be renamed Anchor.

brown colour, huge beige head; aroma of caramel, chocolate, with sourish notes; taste of well ballanced bitterness and sweetness - mainly chocolate and roasted sugar; a bit less intensive carbonation, otherwise very enoyable beer

355 ml bottle. Dark brown colour with a huge, creamy light tan head. Extra credits for the foam! Sweet, malty aroma with caramel, toffee, toasted bread and citrus hops. Light sweet taste. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Finishes bitter with citrus hops, nuts and toasted bread. A typical example of Anchor´s beers: Not extreme, just balanced and well made.

Bottle. I got this a while back and it has been sitting in the fridge waiting its time in line. Pours a lovely medium brown with reddish highlights and a nice fizzy tan head. Aromas are earthy, roasty, leafy, and toffee-like. Flavor is a bit thin, but a nice mix of dark caramel, earthy roasted malts and a slightly leafy bitterness. Very solid for a nice brown.
