Draught at the brewpub. Opaque, black liquid with medium off-white/tan head. Aroma of coffee, ash, fruity hops, biscuit and cereal. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee, ash and fruity hops. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Quite hoppy for an impy, but still nice.

Keg at CP&K. It pours almost jet black, with a thin light tan head. The nose is rich coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and cocoa powder. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, burnt toast, spice, toffee, coffee, charcoal and salted caramel, with a bitter finish. Medium body and moderate, slightly prickly carbonation. Flavoursome and well balanced.

On tap @ Mikkeller bar. A near black one with a small lacing and sidesticking tah head. Aroma is filled with sweet-ish chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, leather and licorice. Light hints of tobacco also. Flavors are packed with chocolate paper. If you ever wonder how chocolate paper taste like, this is damn near the blueprint. Really coffee-strong also, not the dark concentrated - more like normal filtered coffee. It's average carbonated and has a light oily texture. Enjoyable indeed. 13.05.2012

Tap at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, after a long day at CBC Day 2. Pours black-brown with a strong, beige foam head. Brownies and toasted malts in the nose, moderate chocolate. Big rich and chocolatey flavor with moderate roast, some dirt, some earthy bitters. Actually it has quite a bit of mocha character. Medium bodied with fine to average, smooth carbonation. Nice, deep milk chocolate finish, lightly roasty with mild, dirty bitterness. Just great chocolate character overall. (4.2)

Keg at CPK, London. Pours black-brown with a moderate, beige foam head. Nose holds rich dark chocolate, coffee and dark, ripe fruits. Big sweet flavor with some hard alcohol, bit of smoke, dark chocolate. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish with lots more dark chocolate, rich toasty bread, modest earthy bitterness, faint booze and smoke. Very solid Impy stout. (4.1)
