Pasteurised. Sold as Mr George’s Ruby Porter in the US due to trademark issues. A dark ruby beer with a rich flavour and spicy finish. The hop grist adds a hint of citrus to complement the roasted malt character. Dark, Delicious and Delectable.

Bottle from Co-op in Sutton Bridge. Dark brown with a smidge of black purple. Very little off white head. Chocolate malt aroma with slight grassy hop. Sweet malty taste with bittering hop sneaking in for the finish. Chocolate fudge in the aftertaste. Nice full body. Simple but effective.

Bottle shared at home. Finally the real Dark Lord! Very dark brown with beige head that leaves a small film. Raisins, dried fruits, some dark chocolate, some light cardboard, light spices, dates, old stale coffee. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied. Decent.

500ml bottle from Ken Warne local shop, Darlington. Gusher out of the bottle. Black-brown colour with a reddish tinge, tan foam head leaving lacing and nose of malt, roast, dark fruits. Flavour is malty, dark fruity, slight citrus, with coffee, dark chocolate, roasted notes, bready and earthy spicy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry roasted earthy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

The flavour is moderate bitter with a light watery resin hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
