Bottle. Copper, brownish, clear body, with a medium, creamy, white head. Aroma of roasted malts, dried fruits, dark berries, toffee, honey. Tastes of roasted malts, honey, biscuit, toffee, nuts, dark berries. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a lively carbonation and it finishes medium bitter, roasty, sour-fruity and sweet malty. Nice one! Malty, but still quaffable and also fruity. Really well balanced.

Bottle from Waitrose in Northwood. An orange/amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Fruity, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes fruity, malty, caramel, slight bitterness. Had this loads of times on cask over the years but this is the first time I’ve tried the bottled version and it is pretty decent stuff.

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden amber colour with small white head that disappears quickly. Faintly sweet aroma with roasted malt and caramel. Flavour of roasted malt, caramel, slightly fruity with a smooth, bitter finish. Medium body, texture is watery and carbonation is soft.

Can in the Gatwick North BA lounge. It pours clear amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is toasty, caramel, dried fruits, fruit cake and leather. The taste is smooth, malt-driven, toasty, light bitterness, brown bread, touch of alcohol, some citrus notes and caramel with a crisp, dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Crisp and pretty well balanced. Solid stuff all in all.

11.2 ounce bottle. Pours a bright copper color with a small foamy beige head that stays around well beyond the pour. Aroma is sweet malt with notes of light tangerine and white tea. Flavor is more sweet caramel malt that is balanced nicely by the combination of hops. Smooth, creamy and flavorful. With a light dry finish.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours clear golden orange, no head. Aromas of marzipan, dried fruit, light spice. Taste is more of the same, and a light metallic note. Light bitter finish. Nice.
