A chestnut, tawny red premium ale. Brewed with roasted malts and English Fuggle hops, to give a smoky, spicy hoppiness on the nose, leading to a molasses, nutty palate with a light fruity hop dryness.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#61. First poorer weather beer, warm though. First tried this at the Eccles Cross, Manchester. Clear mid-brown with a thick creamy head and a bready.malt-hop character, also a fair bitterness. Mildly sticky-sweet texture. Drank opposite Sandown pier.

Cask. Clear chestnut brown with small beige top. Malts and nuts hit the flavour charts here with caramel and some dusty British hops. Reasonable bitterness but there is nothing much exciting here. Fairly smooth but nothing that stands out for cask. Ok.

500ml bottle from Pages of Lyndhurst, in the New Forest. Pours a lovely rosey dark mahogany, good off-white head. Brilliant aroma of deep toffee, amber malt. Taste follows suit, lovely toffee character, nice full body, dark fruits, lingering toffee sweetness on the close. Really excellent ESB,

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark ruby with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and a touch of smokiness in the aroma. A bit more spicyness in the vmuth with ginger and nuts. However, overall it is sweet but with a bitter undertone, and a chewy texture. After a while malts and autumn fruits come through leading to a slightly dry but sweet finish. This is a decent best bitter.

Bottle from 33 Green Bottles, Gosport. Rich malty aroma with a sour berry streak. Chestnut. Frothy white head. Initial light-medium bitterness has a sour berry streak as per the aroma. The malts and a fruity sweetness then come through. A touch of caramel. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Ling dry slightly astringent finish. More interesting than I was expecting.
