Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the old brewery many moons ago. Bottled August 2013. Pours mostly clear red-orange-brown with an impressively rich, foamy off-white head. Delicious brew, it has aged gracefully, with sturdy sweetness, some caramel, dried oranges, toffee, toasted malts, figs, golden raisins. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine, massaging carbonation; great condition for the age. Lightly warming finish, further bready and toasted malts, more caramel, some vanilla, toasted wood, more golden raisins. Excellent barley wine.

Aroma is whiskey barrel, boozy. Taste is interesting, lots of boozy fruit, sweet and sticky. Caramel. Apples.

33cl bottle courtesy of sebletitje, thanks Sebastian! I poured a little too much out and had a small stream of dark sediment enter the glass following the beer (wow, the label even states to pour carefully. It is a shame I didn’t take note of that sooner). As a result it has a slightly hazy deep copper body that supports a full cobweby tan head of foam. The aroma offers up blunted floral and plum notes as well as raisins and dates blended with a sherry like sensation. The taste is growing on me. It tries to be hoppy at times and also gets sweet and estery at other times. I get slivers and shards of bitter pine and floral hops amid a sea of sweet malts, sugar dusted prunes and figs as well as sherry and booze nuanced maltiness. All in all this is a pretty nice sipper.

Bottle@Craft Clerkenwell (RBESG 10/08/2014) - amber pour with off-white head. Aroma and taste is caramel malty, toffee fudge, some spicy citrus peel, overripe fruity, slight wooden nuances as well. Good stuff.

Hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and slightly soft. Mild fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, little cream. Nice orange marmalade. Lovely light vanilla oak and a pretty mild tangy whisky. Light finish. Very nicely done and very drinkable.

Vergleichsweise wenig süßer Antrunk, leicht alkoholisch, minimal fruchtig. Deutlich schwerer als die normale Version, vollmundig, hefig. 11/12/8/12/12/11
