This 7.4% stout is called Stronge Extra Stout in the UK and was originally brewed as a celebration one-off brew to celebrate the arrival of Buxton’s new brewer Colin Stronge, we liked it so much it's now a permanent addition.

Fun fact: It is not allowed to use the word Stronge in the United States because it implies that the beer is high in alcohol as opposed to the brewer’s last name.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black body with a small tan head. Nice, strong aroma of dark malt, chocolate, coffee and smooth roast. Flavor is a bit sweet, dark, smooth roasted malt, balancing bitterness, chocolate and a little touch of soy in a nice way. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste in the same direction. Quite delicious.

Bottle. Oaty, coffee, chocolate, bit of caramel. Bit of marker pen too. Good stuff. Light smoke and spice. Nice. Feels boozier than it is. Rich. Nice.

Tap at Murphy’s. Thick black with rich tan head. Sweet chocolatey roasted malts. Coffee, oyster shells, hoppy stout, coffee syrup, licorice. Dense thick and rich. I hate this kind of beer. Just kidding. Big sweet and bitter, a grain of salt. Full body and soft carbonation. Njumnjum.
