Named in memory of Ron Brown, our dearly missed engineer/ general problem solver here at Old Nation.
This aggressive Double Brown ale is fresh ground coffee beans for a huge espresso aroma and flavor. Lightly sweet.

Can shared at Hopa, thanks to the BPBW guys for this. Deep brown pour, off-white head. Nose is coffee, nuts, toasted malts, light booze. Taste is sweet boozy, it has coffee and nuts again with a sweetish finish. Light body, soft to average carbonation.

17 September 2022. At Tapster Wicker, Chicago. Shared with the lovely Anke!
Nitro version. Hazy dark brown, stable, tan head. Aroma of earth, leaves, walnut shell, mocha, sorrel. Taste has sweet apple, nuts, bitter mocha and earth. Earthy hoppy finish, bit herbal, clove-like, some warming liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Okay, bit too spicy/herbal maybe.

Pint can from beer abuser Bella's Liquors in Sault St. Marie. Bought July 4th weekend 2021, canned 1/21/2019. I won't hold it against the beer, and, early signs show this may have held up better than the others from this store. Very dark brown, near black, large frothy brown head, good retention. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste is roast, coffee, soy, chocolate. Definitely past it's prime, but still okay. And just as I typed that a rotten note came out in the background. Made me gag. Drain pour, cause of Bella's. I bet it was pretty damn good when fresh.

Can from Tavour. Clear brown with mocha head that patterns slightly. Cold pressed coffee aroma, with faint nuttiness in reserve. Flavor is coffee bean. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thin for the ABV and all of the heavy aromas and flavors. Moderate malt richness started to come out as it warmed.

16 oz. can bought at Total Wine - Melbourne, FL. Pours a clear dark mahogany color with a very large tan head and excellent retention. Great lacing. A nitro-like pour. Coffee aroma dominates. The flavor is roasted coffee-forward with a nutty finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. The 8.1% ABV and 25 IBU are both well hidden. Remove the espresso flavor and this would be great.

16 ounce can. Translucent mahogany brown color. Small bubbly tan head. Roasted malt aroma is redolent of roasted coffee. First sip is dark malt and espresso. Earthy, sour notes. Sticky mouthfeel. Hints of milk chocolate and light smoke in middle. Nutty malt finish. Very tasty.
