This aggressive Double Brown ale is fresh ground coffee beans for a huge espresso aroma and flavor. Lightly sweet.

Dark brown pour. Nose is cocoa and coffee. Tastes of caramel, cocoa, espresso, earthy, rootbeer. Light alcohol. Roasty and tasty.

Tasty brown, mixing a modest caramel-cocoa sweetness with toasted bread, nuts, dark fruit, coffee cherry, and roast. Finishes with an espresso bite and a dry, earth-tinges bitter fade. Very nice.

Can date of 11/22/19. Aroma shows bolder coffee bean and toasted nuts. The flavor has a mild sweetness in there with the coffee bean and the toasted malts. Body is medium plus. Alcohol is pretty hidden. It has a richness to it. Nice.

Can from 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates to a ring. Cacao nib, toasted caramel on the nose but really espresso and cafe latte notes dominate. Slightly creamy on the palate with loads of espresso, toffee and light chocolate. Drier than one would think. Nice lingering espresso and dried caramel finish with cacao nib and toasted malt. Really solid imperial coffee brown.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/7/2018. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark roasted coffee, chestnuts, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, chestnuts, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark roasted coffee, chestnuts, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop; and charred/roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark roasted coffee, chestnuts, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted dark/brown bread, vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, chestnuts, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.1% after the finish. Overall this is an excellent imperial brown ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, chestnuts, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Not too bitter/roasty. Awesome balance of rich malts, chestnuts, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with solid earthy hop presence. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering bitter dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected.
