She turned out a strong version of a farmhouse ale, with no less than 10% alcohol! Aged in barrels for over a year with our Brettanomyces yeasts, her nose reminds us of saisons. We get fallen apples, a fleeting acidity, quince confit and the funkiness of the Brett yeast. In the mouth, she develops a certain softness. This comes entirely from the amount of alcohol, given that the beer holds no residual sugars at all. After this we get pineapple, acacia-flowers, red fruit on alcohol, a delicate woodiness and always those Brett flavours to enrich the whole. Her finale is soft, long and fruity, but all the while without being sugary. Her saturation is very light, which reinforces the vinous character of the beer. It’s a true beer fit for keeping, complex but nonetheless dangerously easy to drink. Beware…

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is vinous and a bit funky with grapes, white wine, oak, estery yeast, bretty funk, stone fruits, apricot, pale malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and a bit tart, body is medium. Hides it's hefty abv pretty well. Beautiful wine barrel Saison, right up my alley.

Bottle from Malt Attacks, Brussels, in the garden, evening sun, 4th June 23. Pours clear golden, big white head. Aroma is funk, rose, citrus, yeast, complex. Taste is rose, funk, so smooth, light tart, farmyard, wood and barrel, very layered, no sign of the ten percent, incredible beer

Bottle at 't Brugs Beertje Brugge. Hazy pale gold colour lasting white head. Authentic funky lambic aroma. Some saison too. wow that explodes in the mouth with white grape flavours zingy tangerine wow that is a mouth full of joy. that is so surprising. the amount and intensity of thd fruit. white wine. some light orange dessert wine. some barrel age character. stunning. beer of the day so far. hides abv well just amazing. 10% really? it's wonderful peach and apricot flavours other creamy mouthfeel re rate its even better I can't think of a better beer in Brugge 4.8

Bottle, 10%. Citric aroma, vinous grapes, lambiek notes. Cloudy golden colour. Stable white head. The flavour is nicely citric with a mild, but good lambiek acid. Good wooden lambiek notes. A surprising gem.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy straw with airy white head. Clear aroma of citrus, yeast and hops, with dusty notes. Bitter and dry flavour of hops and Saison yeast, with touches of malt and dusty notes and touches of barrel. Dry and estery aftertaste with funky touches. Warming alcohol presence. A very nice piece of work. Dry and dusty but well-balanced and satisfying.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bottled 08 Oct 19. Orange, medium hazy body, with a big, fluffy, lacing, off-white head. Aroma of Brett, grass, flowers, citrus, moderate spices, vanilla, some bread, some white grapes, slight stone fruits. Tastes similar, with some more barrel notes. Meidum, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes yeasty, medium spicy, medium dry, slightly warm, astringent, citric, a bit floral, with moderate Brett, some vanilla Very nice. The alcohol is almost hidden, except some astringency in the finish. Lovely combination of Brett and some barrel, fruity notes and a sweet malt body. Drinks a bit heavier than the average DLS, but surprisingly smooth for the ABV, greatly balanced. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 15

ABV: 10.0%. Clear medium to light orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, grapes - wine - passion fruit, light tart, light funk. Flavor is moderate sweet, light to moderate acidic and bitter with a long duration, funky, wine - grapes, grapes, saison yeast, balanced, grapes - apple cider. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20200924]
