Bottled at 6.8%, pressed Sept 2017, bottled July 2018. It pours aclear rich golden colour. The aroma is rich, earth, barnyard upfront, light manure, wet hay, sillage, pear skin, tangy, soft white wine, gooseberry and a nip of citrus. The taste is firmly dry, puckering, oak, plenty tannin, tart pear, juicy, oily, zingy lemon sherbet, twist of lime, gooseberry, white grape, funk, must and dirty barnyard action. Finish is bone dry and tannic. Medium body and just a hint of carbonation. Good depth of flavour balance is great - sweet fruity character, drying oak and funky barnyard. Ross on Wye proving their perry game is on point as per usual.

BIAB at Station House Cider Festival 2019. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour, no head and savory, buttery aroma. Taste is lemony citric, toffee, sweet, pear, fruity, some tartness. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry finish with toffee hints. Interesting, quite drinkable.

Bottle sampled. Pours hazy golden with no head. Aroma tart and sweet pears with wood and toffee. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light acidic with a very dry mouthfeel, particularly in the finish. Medium bodied with flat carbonation.

Had a tasting of this fine perry from the affable Mike Johnson at the Ross on Wye cider farm and found it so intriguing and unique I had to buy a bottle. First thing i noticed was a thick skin floating in the bottom of the bottle - not entirely sure what it was, and never seen anything like it before but I’ll trust it’s part of this perry’s character. It pours a nice golden colour and thankfully the powerful sulphur aroma quickly dissipates to reveal a nice sweet oak smell. Got a lot of honey to this and a sweetness that quickly turns dry in the mouth. Definitely one to sip and savour.
