St-Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout is Quebec’s tribute to the late 1700’s English Imperial Stouts, brewed for the Russian courts of Catherine the Great.
Made from a blend of barley malts, St-Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout is infused with Cascade, Goldings and Willamette hops, resulting in an outstanding hop-character with a smooth finish. Bourbon wood-aged, this full-bodied ale has a rich, smoky aroma with hints of vanilla, expresso and chocolate.
Serve St-Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout between 13°C and 15°C, preferably in a port glass or a brandy snifter. This stout will improve with age for a number of years. Store in a cool, dark place.

Bottle opened on the bus ride from Dunedin Brewing Co. to Cigar City Brewing. Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malts and sour cherries. Flavors of burnt malts, chocolate and coffee. Full body with soft carbonation. Thanks to whoever opened this.

bottle pours black with a tall dark tan head. Aroma is strong cocoa nib and burnt sugar. Nice thick chocolate and light coffee with a very thick viscous mouthfeel

Thanks CapFlu! Almost black. Big impy nose. Lots of stringing roast malt intensity, alcohol up the nostrils and that sort of thing. Light chocolate character with hints of bourbon. Smokey, bourbony, chocolatey flavour finally emerges as it warms. Nice balance and complexity, a coffeeish brew with a nice barrel character.

Bottle, thanks for sharing Todd! Black russian nose (no really !), smoky roast. Deep black, golden brown lace. Espresso corretto entry, preserved fruit, vanilla, mild cigars, dark chocolate, boozy marmelade finish. Smooth oily mouthfeel, fine sparkly. Deep flavours, very enjoyable - like smoking a good cigar, but without the nasty aftertaste.

Bottle: poured a pitch-black color stout with a super large deep brown foamy head with great retention and some great lacing. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla with some deep roasted malt notes. Taste is a nice and well balanced mix between some black chocolate with light coffee notes with lots of vanilla form the bourbon and a finish that is dominated by dry roasted malt notes (maybe a tad too dry even). Body is full with some creamy notes and great carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very well done with great balance between the different flavor thought maybe a tad too dry.
