A blend of a mature and young ale creates a porter of traditional character that’s dark cherry in colour and complex in taste. Aromas of liquorice, rum, raisin and chocolate with hints of coffee are in abundance in this full-bodied, warming ale.

Dark brown with a frothy, white head. Strong roasted aroma, grainy, dark chocolate, a bit metallic. Taste is bittersweet up front, bitter at the end. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation. Okay.

Bottle from Ocado. Pours black with a thinnish creamy beige head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, raisins and blackberries. Taste has similar notes with some roasted malts on a slightly bitter finish. Medium body, fairly low carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite good

Bottle. Amazed it's not reviewed. Nose is roast, treacle, hints of smoke, a little musty. Taste is pronounced roast and licorice, with hints of cola, coffee, and blackberry and a hint of aniseed. It really is very good.

Die Beschreibung: Früchtekuchen, Rum, Rosinen und Lakritze. Zum Glück aber einfach ein schön röstiges Porter ohne grosse Süsse.

Bottle – gift from my brother. Has a strong nose of cocoa, raisins and fruitcake. Pours a dark reddish brown with a decent foamy cream head. The creamy texture is the first thing to be noticed in the mouth. Quickly followed by a tartness that gives raisins, rotting fruit and liquorice with hints of alcoholic strength. Fairly sweet and malty though despite what I’ve just said. Finish is fairly sweet with chocolate and some fruit. A pretty good solid porter.
