Another fine example of the English style. This Bitter is more robust than the best bitter but still with an excellent balance between hops and malt. Pale Ale Malt along with Aromatic and Crystal malts combine with the Galena and Fuggles hops to create a sure-fire favorite.

Cloudy reddish-brown color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse small patches of lace. Fruity and malty aroma. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and a touch of earthy hop. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Average overall.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy deep amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has lots of straw and a bit of hay plus a touch of bread. Flavor has light bread and straw with some hay backing.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Loud crack upon opening yields insanely high carbonation into the glass, this took a while to pour. Pours hazy dark reddish copper color with a huge 2 finger fluffy off white head with insane retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass, with a ton of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, raisin, toffee, toast, bread, floral, and herbal hops. Pretty nice aromas with solid strength and balance. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, bread, light pine, floral, herbal, and earthy spiciness. Decent amount of earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, raisin, toffee, bread, light pine, and earthy spiciness on the finish for a short bit. Solid balance of flavors and fairly robust feeling for 4.8%; zero cloying flavors on the finish. Quite dry on the finish as expected from the high carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a lightly creamy and very crisp mouthfeel that is ok. I swirled a lot of the carbonation out of this one on purpose. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid ESB. This was probably infected, but the taste didn’t seem to be affected that badly. In the end it was pretty tasty, I had no problems finishing the glass.

A dark copper amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a smooth herbal malt with grassy hops, light veggie notes. In mouth, a sweet herbal caramel malt with light grassy hops, not bad. Bottle at Mondial 2012, June 10 2012.

Bottle: Poured a murky brown with a huge thick off white head. Aroma is sweet with malt. Taste was not very ESB like, more malty and chocolate. I enjoyed this eitherway.

Bottle. Dark brown, hazy body with reddish highlights. Big, fluffy dark ivory head. Malty sweet nose of roast, nuts, bread and caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes with a strange and off-putting sourness and light bitterness. Some fruity tastes with unsweetened black tea in the background. Medium body with a watery texture that turns sticky in the finish. Lively carbonation.

Dark brown color body, 80% opaque with a thin fast dying tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and coffee. Light-bodied; sweet taste up front fading to a nutty taste. After taste shows a bitter of the malt and a little bit of spice. Overall a pretty poor ESB not worth drinking it. I sampled this 12 oz bottle purchased from Merchants in Dearborn, MI on the 28-May-20.

Hazy deep copper/orange-brown body, medium tan head. Earthy aroma with floral hops and toast. Chocolate biscuit flavor, perfumey, and earthy, maltier than most ESBs with a strong toasted character. Sharp prickly carbonation. Appropriate complexity. Not a bad ESB.

From brewpub "keggy." Even the foam has a nice bitter/porter taste to it. deep brown in color. The beer itself is a little sweet, but the English hop profile really plays up well.
