Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch C 06:33 (BBF 30/07/22). AROMA: medium-low initial malt notes with caramel and faint dry fruits (raisins). medium to medium-high alcohol with a slight rose character. APPEARANCE: dark ruby color and clear. medium-large light brown head, creamy, with average retention. lace formation. TASTE: similar to the aroma with initial medium-high caramel notes, slight dried fruits (raisins) and medium alcohol. low bitterness with a semi-sweet finish that dries out due to high alcohol and not bitterness. MOUTHFEEL: medium-high body with medium-high carbonation. significant alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a christmas beer that is more a standard belgian dark strong ale with more balance to the sweetness than anything else. it just doesnt remember xmas season at all.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours hazy darkest red - brown with a decent light tan head. The aroma is rich liquorice vibes, toothy, earthy, bitter - sweet, toasty, damp wood, herbal, spicy, dull smoke, ash and tobacco. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, earthy, toothy, loads of umami and liquorice, candy, dark fruits, plum, fig, cherry cola, Dr Pepper, spice and herbs, chewy, toothy, toasty, slightly charred and minimal feel of that 8%. Medium body and fine to moderate carbonation. Decent festive fayre. Not a lot of depth, but sure drinks easy.

18 December 2020. Christmas Beer Evening with the lovely Anke! Bottle from Carrefour. Hazy dark brown, thick, foamy, tan head. Aroma of prune, candied fig, raisin, toffee, cough syrup, clove, coriander, aniseed, brandy, toast & jam. Taste has very sweet dark fruits (raisin, prune, fig), vague sourish brambles in a nutty, bit toasty malty body; bitter clove & herbal aniseed in the middle with a sour edge of coriander. Herbal hoppy finish, more dried fruit & liquorice, warming brandy alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Cliché Christmas Dubbel but actually well done.

0,33 bottle. Beautiful, almost perfect deep pure amber color with a huge, nuanced, narnous creamy yellowish wonderful head. Nice beer. Cognac, malt, sweet, dried fruit aroma. As it should be, though not as intense. Caramels are a sweet sip, with little carbonic acid, slip well. As you get down, you can feel the alcohol in your throat, but it is not disturbing in your mouth. Full-bodied, delicious stuff. A good little sweet winter beer for Christmas, after dinner, but not the most fruity, somehow the hops are also missing, yet it has a bitter finish. Rather stewy, malt flavor. And it's really nice.

Testes, finom cucc. Karácsonyra, vacsi utánra való, jó kis édeskés téli sör, de nem a leg gyümölcsösebb, valahogy a komló is hiányzik, mégis van benne keserű lecsengés. Inkább pörköltes, malátás íz. És tényleg nagyon szép.
